Bio²Cell
In the Bio²Cell part of the project, blood samples are taken from a quarter of the recruited patients or volunteers. They are reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells. Differentiated into sensory neurons using growth factors according to an established protocol, they are then sown on MEA plates. The intrinsic activity of the patient's neurons is measured and analysed using MEA images.
Now various possible triggers or changes in the patient's environment are simulated: temperature changes, air pressure or blood sugar changes. Neural activity is measured at the same time. The data obtained in this way is fed into the Bio²Integrate software. In addition, chemotherapy patients are examined and the sensitivity of their sensory neurons to the chemotherapeutic agent to be applied is analysed.
